ENGLISH INFO

Stella Jones, Austrias renown singer/songwriter takes the spotlight with her new Album “The Pursuit of Silence” released by Universal Music Austria.

Stella Jones was born 1971 in Berlin, Germany, as daughter of Bebop trumpet player CARMELL JONES and Blues/Jazz singer and Fluxus artist CHRISTINE JONES.

She grew up surrounded by international musicians and artists and started to play the piano at the age of five. At the age of nine she started composing her own songs and began creating audio books with her own paintings and comics.

In 1977 Stella Jones moved to Vienna and started her musical career performing as a singer with her mother in Jazz clubs.

In 1984 she started working as a recording artist.

Stella Jones has enlisted some of the most talented Austrian and international musicians to support her debut album “The Pursuit of Silence” including master drummer Thomas Lang, bass legend Willy Langer and a host of others. “The Pursuit of Silence” – an infinitely powerful and funky record – favors groove and breathing melodies above complicated and artificial sounds. By constructing all of her backing tracks herself Jones creates a polyphonic universe full of encrypted conceptions of her reality. It is a work of a restless and creative polymath confronting the world around her and opting for a feeling that reflects her impulses.

From 1993 on until today Stella Jones collaborated with artists and bands like: Gloria Gaynor, Taylor Dayne, Omara Portuondo, Chakka Khan, Nina Hagen, Marianne Faithful, Sir Jam, VSOP, Count Basic, Farmers Market, Groove Connection, Wolfgang Ambros, Rainhard Fendrich, Colors and People, Jonesmobile, Hot Pants Road Club, Bingo Boys, Powerpack, and many more. During that time she toured with her band all over Europe, the U.S. and Asia.
